“EQUALITY: Youth Campaign to Raise Awareness on Gender Equality” is aimed to promote gender equality and underline the importance of empowerment, emphasizing the dual importance of gender equality as well as to empower Malaysian young women into the market career of leadership and inspire young women in active participation of women empowerment to address gender equality within career, community, etc.

There are misperceptions about gender equality and discrimination in the labour market and till to date is still an issue faced by many young women of today. There are significant gender gaps for young women in employment and leadership, as well as in pay compared with men. Young women with education are significantly under-represented in careers especially after motherhood. In Malaysia, gender stereotypes still exist as the society still perceive male as the breadwinners. Therefore, the team wishes to raise the issue on the lack of empowerment of young women to empower Malaysian female status in the market of careers.

In this changing world, the team hopes to convey the messages to young women, to not underestimate abilities of themselves and to make a difference in empowering an open mindset over traditional stereotypes towards young women, as everyone deserve to be respected. The team encourages young women to voice out for themselves with equal opportunities and experience which enable them to develop knowledge, skills and competencies to play a full part in all aspects of society.
