Fine Liner Pen and Alcohol Marker on Pastel Paper

12'' by 24''

For this project, I drew my shoe with pure contour lines. Then I zoomed in three times and chose the last zoom to turn into a work of art. I am really good at and I love to draw very realistic human portraits but for this project, I thought it would be fun to warp and stretch the human features until they almost aren't recognizable.  I knew I wanted to have an array of different characters and I applied my realism skills to make them somewhat realistic.

For this artwork, I used a blue alcohol marker to make the dark lines. I then used a blue fine liner pen to draw the people. I did this all on blue pastel paper. I chose all blue because I love to draw in monochrome, I love Picasso's blue period and I wanted to do something that maybe evoked that.

I started with my three times zoomed in shoe, then I drew in the dark lines. I then drew in the people. I chose not to do a background because I liked the simple almost cartoonish look of the blue pen on the blue paper.
