For this artwork I was tasked with mixing three shades and tree tints of all 12 primar, secondary, and tertiary colors. That added up to 84 total colors! To provide a space for all of those colors, I chose to paint my brother in the alpes outside of Grenoble, France. I chose him because he has insanely curly hair and I thought that would be fun to illustrate. I also liked the contrast of his face and the mountains.

To create this piece, I used acrylic paint. I used the primary colors plus black and white to mix all 84 colors, shades and tints. I painted the painting on canvas because that is what you paint on.

To start out I drew a sketch of the scene on the canvas. I made sure to make it light so that It would not bleed through the paint. I then started mixing colors. I only used the Primaries plus black and white. I sep up my pallet with the pure color in the middle and the tints and shades along the edge in a gradient. I did this so it was organised and I wouldn't have trouble finding colors when it was time to add a second coat. I painted at least three coats of paint in each color segment. I wanted to make sure that the color was flat and steady. I repeated this process with al 84 colors.

I really enjoyed this project. I thought is was super fun to mix so many colors and have to fit them in a single work. I liked not making something realistic as realism is not my favorite. Overall this was a very positive experience. I felt like I could really sink into it.
