Cut Soda Cans and Hot Glue

For this project, I was inspired by the inside of soda cans and the human figure. I am fascinated with taking something so normal and true to life like the human face, and twisting it to the brink of unrecognizability. I chose to follow this fascination through the medium of trash, specifically cans. I like the metal look of the inside and how it contrasts with the colorful wrapper.

To make my ideas become a reality, I used newsprint to make an armature to support the structure. I then used tin cans which I cut into stips, and glued them on with hot glue.

The beginning step was to vreate an armature out of paper and tape. I did this so that the metal would have something to hold on to, it provides structure and support. I then washed out a bunch of cans so that they were not sticky when I glued them on. I then glued the trips on with hot glue. I used hot glue becasue it dries fast. I added the details in the fase last. I think these made it pop.
