Colored Pencil on Pastel Paper

The purpose of this project was to work on perspective and realism with color.  For this project I chose three pieces of candy to draw in a realistic style.  I chose a Starburst, a package of Sour Patch Kids, and a Chumpa-Chumpa. I chose these three because I liked the bright colors and the way they clashed.

For this artwork I used a graphite pencil to lay down the original sketch, then I used many colored pencils to create the finished work.  I did this on toned pastel paper. The materials for this project were very simple, I chose to do this because it gave the piece an air of togetherness, its all the same material.

To make this artwork, I stared by taking a photo of my chosen candy. I then sketched it on the pastel paper. I wanted to used toned pastel paper because if the paper was a neutral color the artwork and the highlights would stand out more. I then went oven my sketch with layer after layer of colored  pencil. This took me a very long time, but in the end I created something I am pretty proud of.
