Acrylic on Canvas

For this artwork, I created a surrealism paining of a surrealist collage I made. I wanted to make something super strange and a little bit disturbing, and I think this came through. I chose to do this because I love super strange art that makes you really think about how it makes you uncomfortable.

the materials I used were, Magazine clippings, glue, drawing paper, canvas, and acrylic paint. I used the magazine clippings, drawing paper, and glue to make the collage and the canvas and acrylic to make the final painting.

To make this work, I started by hunting through magazines and ripping out pages that had elements that interested me. I then cut out the specific things on the pages I ripped out and glued them to a piece of paper. I chose bits of magazine that out of context would appear super strange. Once I had my collage made, I sketched it onto a piece of canvas. I slowly painted the collage, making sure to match texture and color.

I really enjoyed this project because it let me make something super strance and I love that! I also enjoyed working with paint which I like much more that pencil.
