I wanted to base this project off the George Eliot quote, “we could never have loved the earth so well if we had had no childhood in it.”  I think this quote is really meaningful because I really feel that you have to love something to have an urge to protect it.  I think my connection to the earth exists because I was raised to appreciate it and be in awe of nature.

I used acrylic paint with a watercolor base because I had a specific style I wanted to use/effect I wanted to create.  I’m not sure I accomplished this.  I’m currently revising this work using colored pencils.

I depicted an indent of someone lying in the grass, in a position I hoped would look serene.  I love this idea, but it was a challenge for me because I am more detail than texture oriented.  I like the effect of this piece but I don't love the way the colors came together.  I plan on reworking this project with a different material.
