As far as creating my art goes, painting has always been one of my favorite mediums. Painting portraits especially. so for an independent artwork of my choice, it felt natural for me to paint a portrait. Although it is not something i often talk about, i am a writer. for me, painting, drawing, or in some way making my characters, helps me bring them from their world to my own.

I started with quite a bit of looking through photos on pinterest, looking for photos that reminded me of the girl i wanted to paint. when i found several images i could use as references, i continued with a sketch. When i finished the sketch, i went in and started with a base coat of a light beige color, to make sure no part of the paper is truly white. i then continued to layer pigments over each other, waiting for each layer to dry. this was fairly tedious because waiting for the pain to dry took quite a while to dry. i also decided to use watercolors for this project, meaning mistakes that i made were incredibly difficult to fix.
