Duck Stamp

This assignment was to submit a piece of art to the duck stamp competition. I started by researching different species of American ducks. I eventually decided on the common Eider because I loved the smooth patterns in their feathers and how clean they looked. I started my drawing by sketching out the general gesture of each bird, then working to fill in the water, rocky bank, and sunset in the background. I then went on to color in the birds' bodies and wings and finished by adding some feather details.
