Be The Light.
9x12
graphite pencil and watercolor.
I started this piece by brainstorming what I wanted to do for it. The assignment was to make a peace to submit to a competition about encouraging people to donate organs. I have always been very interested in human anatomy so i wanted to include that in my art submition. i also liked the idea of adding a element of technologie showing how these incredible advancements in medicine are what allow us to donate organs and help others with our organs. that's why i decided to originally have the human heart inside the light bulb, casting light on the space around it. after i had that sketched, i realized the piece felt empty and needed something else. so after some research i chose to add a gardinia, a flower that represents hope and second chances. i then finsihed the sketch and filled in the whole thing with watercolor and adding the text at the top of the piece.
