Charcoal, Ink, Graphite, on Pastel Paper
Again, we used the grid method to draw a picture, but this time we would use charcoal and ink instead of graphite
I don't like using charcoal, it sounds weird to my ears and I do not appreciate it. So instead I used ink, and a little bit of white graphite to pull out highlights or to lighten areas where I had gone too dark with the ink.
This was a poor decision. It involved a lot of layering which I am impatient with, and also graphite and ink do not erase, so any point where I put ink over my graphite grid, the graphite was sealed forevermore into the paper and I could not erase some of the grid lines. and then I would make things to dark, then overcorrect and make them too light, and then not be able to match the same color later, and it was a whole disaster and isn't even really realistic because the brushstrokes are super obvious.
