Garfield Moment

4"-3"

Colored pencil and pen on watercolor paper

For this project, we had to combine two artist's styles into our own artwork. I drew inspiration from both pop art and surrealism for this piece.

I used colored pencils and a pen to make this. I liked how the colored pencils didn't disrupt the line work, but I do not like how the pencils are inconsistent and I have trouble making flat colors with them. The piece was very small though, so that made it a little tricky as well.

I sketched a few Garfields, and then I transferred some of my ideas onto watercolor paper. I mostly just wanted to draw Garfield, so that's what I did. I drew the front legs way higher than the back legs, so I gave him a head to stand on. I think ultimately this was a plus, because it makes it more surreal and fun. But I like this, even though some of my technical skills were lacking.
