The Amazing Roadtrip

The Amazing Road Trip:

This project was where a group of four students were supposed to picture themselves going on a road trip with a budget of $10,000. On this trip we were asked to pick a theme for the places we wanted to go and we were asked what type of food we wanted to eat, the lodging options, baggage, and what type of vehicle we wanted to drive in. Once we chose all of that we calculated the cost of everything and the amount of days and miles this trip would've taken. As we start from Novato and travel back.

Theme and Costs:

As a group we decided our theme would be lakes, and that we would travel to a bunch of lakes and camp there. Our vehicle choice was a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid and our choice of food was a quick fast food option, we decided on a campground for lodging, and duffel bags for our things. The miles of this trip was 4,188 with a total of 71 hours of driving non-stop, and the daily mileage was 598 miles per day. And The cost of the car, lodging, baggage, and food would be around $2945 for a week long trip. The cost of the car was $98 per day plus $558.32 gas expense (y=98x+558.32) which ended up being $1244.32 after a week. And the food was $100 for all four of us, the lodging was $200, and baggage was $300 (y=200x+300). After a week the cost would be $1700. With all the costs together for the first week it would be around $2933.32, which is not even half of our budget so we could spend more money on our trip later if we wanted to. After all of our calculations we made a graph and a map. Overall, with the Lake theme, and the choice of a campground for each lake we stop at, I personally think that our road trip will be amazing!

Reflection:

This project was really fun, and I really enjoyed it, as did my group. Our team managed to do most pf the things for all of the six C's; Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, Conscientious Learner, Cultural Competence, and Character. As a group I feel like we really were respectful of each other, understanding, we were efficient workers, and we communicated very well. We all worked on different parts and we voted together and compromised on what we wanted for this trip, and we helped each other when we got stuck. We did debate a lot on food choices but we were able to solve it, and we did have to make sure everyone did an equal amount of work for the project as well, and it all worked out in the end gladly. In my opinion, the challenging part of this project was making sure we had all the right numbers. If we didn't have the right numbers, a lot of the math would be wrong, but we double checked it, so I'm confident our calculation are correct. Lastly we used many learning targets that we have learned and took notes on in class which helped us solve this real world scenario. We used learning targets 3A, 3B, and 3C, for graphing and figuring out the equations for solving. Overall I really enjoyed this project and I'm excited for the next one!
