Design Step 4

Project Description:

In Design Step 3 process we have been working on our final project product. With our spools of Polyterra PLA we've been printing cube designs on the 3D printer to test how well they have printed and how strong they are. We have a lab we designed with two experiments, one for testing strength and the other for testing maneuverability. With our test cubes alone we can begin testing the strength of our cubes but soon we will start printing the arm appendages and then attach those and test the joint movement. Rice now we're in a bit of a tough spot with one 3D printer, since it is such a tedious time to print things. But overall we are in good shape and will get our prosthetic done soon. Although with our time constraints it is safe to say that we're looking more at a cosmetic prosthetic rather than a fully functional piece like we were hoping.

Reflection:

So far our project is coming along really well, my team and I are working hard on the process of building our prototypes. Our next steps would be to print our prosthetic design off of an engineering software, from there we will be able to test and readjust our models. Overall we are in good shape in terms of the quality of our project and other aspects of the project. We've already got the board to approve our request for the materials and will be given the money to by 3 spools of polyterra and have printed test cubes. I believe we're good at communication and collaboration because our group work is evenly split and we all contribute. I think the only thing we would need to improve upon is time management which is just a conscientious learning skill but ultimately our work is really good in quality and in content. I'm looking forward to getting into Design Step 6 and eventually the building aspect of our project.
