Cell Project

Animal Cell Poster:

Project Description:

In this project we made our own animal cell and labeled the organelles, and explained the important functions of each one. We also learned about the specific parts of the cell membrane that allows passage of things in and out of the cell.

Content:

Plants vs. Animal Cells

Plant Cells - Contain organelles: Chloroplasts, Cell Wall, Cell Membrane, Ribosomes, Nucleus, Endoplasmis Reticulum, Golgi Apparatus, Vacuoles, Mitochondria, and Cytoskeleton.

Animal Cells - Contain organelles: Lysosomes, Cell Membrane, Nucleus, Ribosomes, Endoplasmic Reticulum, Golgi Apparatus, small to very little Vacuoles, Mitochondria, and Cytoskeleton.

Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic-

Prokaryotic - Includes: Cell Membrane, Cell Wall (in plant cells), and Ribosomes.

Eukaryotic - Includes: Chloroplasts, Cell Wall, Cell Membrane, Ribosomes, Nucleus, Endoplasmic Reticulum, Golgi Apparatus, Vacuoles, Mitochondria, Cytoskeleton, and Lysosomes.

Reflection:

In this project my and three other classmates made an animal cell poster. Our best skill was collaboration, because we equally split jobs and finished our poster fast and efficiently. But a skill we may need to work more on is our conscientious learning skills. Because our poster could have been a bit more neat and descriptive. Moreover we could have planned out a better layout and explain the functions of the organelles in greater detail. Despite that I learned a lot about organelles and transportation through the cell membrane.
