Cnidaria Mini Poster

Function: Researchers describe jellyfish as a 'gingerbread house' for fish, providing both food and shelter. Scientists at Queen's University, Belfast, have discovered that jellyfish are providing habitat and space for developing larval and juvenile fish.

Description: For this project we learned about Jellyfishes for about a week or two. Then we watched videos and wrote notes to help us understand and to help us take a quiz/test. Then we started on the mini poster drawing, coloring, and writing three fun facts.

Jellyfish:  Jellyfish and sea jellies are the informal common names given to the medusa-phase of certain gelatinous members of the subphylum Medusozoa, a major part of the phylum Cnidaria.

Benthic Zone: The benthic zone is the ecological region at the lowest level of a body of water such as an ocean, lake, or stream, including the sediment surface and some sub-surface layers. The name comes from ancient Greek, βένθος, meaning "the depths."

Pelagic Zone: The pelagic zone consists of the water column of the open ocean and can be further divided into regions by depth. The word pelagic is derived from Ancient Greek πέλαγος 'open sea'. The pelagic zone can be thought of as an imaginary cylinder or water column between the surface of the sea and the bottom

Reflection: Two things I did good in this project was the drawing. I feel like I did good on the drawing because it shows everything labeled and its very colorful. Another thing I did well is just learning about these types of cells. Two things I had trouble with was the work because I was far behind so I had to catch up on things and the second thing was the background colors.
