To start off with, we created a moodboard for a racing game with images from various pieces of media such as; Mario Kart, The Crew 2, Forza Horizon 5 and many more! It included planned features such as the power ups from the Mario Kart games which adds an RNG aspect to it and makes it unpredictable and replayable due to the amount of different outcomes you can achieve through using the powers ups. It would most likely be an arcade racer and have semi realistic physics unlike a game such Beam.ng as it would then be the sort of game you would play with your family. You could also customise your car to have different wheels and engine etc to make it more suitable for the track. For example if you're playing on a track full of mud then you would have rally-type wheels. There would also be different types of races that vary from street races to parkour races and they would all be unique to the next, with street races having sharp bends and narrow space to parkour races having large jumps and loops!
We also made a mood board for a FPS game which would be a fast paced Sci-Fi Western shooter, we had many ideas and one was different bullet types that do different things such as; magnetic bullets, time-stopping bullets and bouncing bullets. These would all affect the feel of the game as if someone is around the corner you could bounce a bullet off of a wall so it would hit them and due to all the different ways you could use these abilities there would be quite a high skill ceiling therefore it would be pretty competitive!
I also came up with an idea that instead of bouncing bullets, all the guns have different abilities such as a lever action rifle having a burst mode that lasts for 10 seconds and recharges for 30 seconds, or due to a pistol being pretty underwhelming compared to the other guns I thought that you would be able to hip fire it whilst sprinting and your speed will be greatly increased. This will make a pistol viable because we are aiming to create a fast-paced shooter and having a fast-paced weapon will fit right in the meta. There would be other guns such as a double-barrel shotgun, musket and a sniper rifle. These would all be weapons from the late 1800s to early 1900s to fit with the cowboy aesthetic but they would be designed in a more futuristic way whilst still looking like the original counterpart, such as the original pistol being based off of the iconic Colt Python revolver. I chose this because it fits with the Sheriff sort of feel and one of the most recognisable Sheriff's, Rick Grimes, uses a Colt Python.
In my opinion, I think the environment should be highly interactive so it sort of has its own personality and then you can become more invested in it which means more hours people will play the game and for Game Developers in the industry that could mean more money spent on the game. If there is a farm somewhere in the wild west and it has carrots it could boost night vision so if the map is set at night or has some dark areas it would be beneficial to visit the farm and it would actually give it purpose other than being there for the aesthetic. I also think it should have a destructible environment like Battlefield has but just not to that sort of scale, for example you could shoot a ladder and break it so it is unusable for the enemies or you could shoot through weak materials such as plywood!
I also thought of a feature called 'Last Stand', I have taken inspiration from Call of Duty so when you consume a certain item (not sure what yet) then you would get knocked down instead of being fully killed as long as it wasn't a headshot. This is sort of like Rainbow Six Siege as no matter what if you get shot in the head you die whereas in Call of Duty you can tank multiple shots to the head. Once you are down then you will have 15 seconds to kill someone with a mini revolver that you will pull out from your boot and if you don't kill anyone then you bleed out. We could make it longer than 15 seconds but then it slows the gameplay down which isn't our aim. If we make the game multiplayer then I think it shouldn't be a thing and should only be available in solo play because it would result in less people working together as a team if they can revive their self, so sort of making it like Quick Revive is in Call of Duty: Zombies.
