This type of media isn't directed towards anyone individually and more of a wider spectrum of people and aims to be suited to everyone's taste. This applies to things such as; Monopoly, I'm A Celebrity and Moana.
This is where the audiences are segmented as the piece might not be everyones cup of tea you could say. For example, I doubt Love Island interests old men who go to the pub therefore it is more targeted to younger audiences.
When you look at this image, you see 4 quite young men enjoying a pint down at the local pub. What food do you think they like? What sort of music do you think they like? What clothing brands are they going to like? To identify your audience just change the people from the pub to your demographic!
It is important to understand so you can identify your target demographic so you can get the best chance of attracting new people to your product. For example, if you go to the cinema to see Toy Story and you saw an amazing trailer for a different animation then you would be more likely to see it as one of your interests is clearly animation!
