Like the Library of Alexandria, AI is powerful because it is an “amalgamation” of human knowledge and experience. Research shows that students must be taught in school how to use AI responsibly and effectively rather than being left to figure it out on their own or simply forbidden from using it. AI is not intended to replace teachers but to augment their effectiveness (such as, efficiently creating lessons that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving). AI can help increase engagement, deepen learning, provide 24/7 targeted support, use continuous monitoring, and curate resources that meet the individual student needs to improve how students learn, how teachers work, and ultimately how we structure our education system.
