A Child's Prayer for Grandparents
Dear God, please bless my grandparents.
Thank you for the life they gave my parents
and for the life, they give to me.
For the ways they helped me and made me strong, I give thanks.
For the ways, they love me no matter what, I rejoice.
For the ways, they have paved the road
that leads me here, I am grateful.
Let them grow in wisdom and joy in life.
Let them find peace and rest from their work.
Let them be healed of every sickness and pain.
And let them see with their own eyes your glory
and the love of their children and grandchildren.
Bless them always until they come to rest in you.

Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 3! I hope the children had a great break and are ready for another exciting term. We have a 10-week term ahead with no scheduled curriculum days. I would like to extend my gratitude to my leadership team for looking after the school in my absence.
School Developments:
The building works within the school are well underway, and we are very excited about this new development and the positive changes it will bring to our school. These improvements will enhance our learning environment, providing better facilities and resources for our students and staff. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these changes.
Prep Transition Program:
Our 2025 Prep Students have started their transition to St Thomas More through the "More Learning" program. This is a fantastic initiative that allows our future students to experience school life and become familiar with their new surroundings. We are very excited to see them here at school, and we know they will have a great time. A big thank you to Vanessa Cutajar and Melissa Zuccarelli for coordinating this program for our newest students. Their efforts are greatly appreciated and ensure a smooth transition for these young learners.
Staffing News:
We are pleased to welcome new members to our team:
Isabella Colletti, who will be joining us in the PE role Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
Adrianna Bonacci, who will also be taking on a PE role on a Thursday.
Anne-Marie Rustom, who will be focusing on English Intervention for this term.
We are confident these staff members will bring fresh energy and expertise to our school community, enhancing our programs and supporting our students' growth.
Achievements:
Congratulations to our Year 6 football team! They have successfully competed in the Divisional Football competition and are now advancing to the Regional Finals on August 6. We are very proud of their hard work and dedication. We wish them the best of luck in the upcoming finals. Go team!
Arts Festival:
Our students have been exploring their creative sides by preparing art pieces for our Arts Festival. This exciting event will be held at the end of this term, showcasing the incredible talents of our students. It is always a highlight of our school calendar, and we look forward to seeing the wonderful creations our students have produced. More information will follow from Annette Mantello, so stay tuned for details on how you can support and enjoy this celebration of the arts.
Health and Wellness:
Dental visits were completed by Tuesday of this week, ensuring our students' dental health is up to date. Regular dental check-ups are essential for maintaining good oral hygiene and preventing potential issues. We thank our local dental professionals for providing this important service to our students.
Special Events:
A big thank you to Clara and Lisa for organising our Grandparents Morning. This special event will be held tomorrow, Friday 26 July, in your child's classroom between 9:15 am - 10:00 am. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to recognise and honour their grandparents or special people in their lives who have made a significant impact on their growth and development. To ensure a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved, we have planned some activities to celebrate in the classroom. We look forward to seeing many of you there and sharing this special time together. It is events like these that strengthen our school community and create lasting memories for our students and their families.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Let's make Term 3 a fantastic one!
Warm regards,
David Hurn

This is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, and we want to celebrate their achievements. A big thank you also goes out to our teachers and families for their ongoing support. In the coming weeks, teachers will be delving deeper into the data to identify areas of strength and opportunities for growth, which will inform our future planning to ensure continued success for all our students.

Book Week (19-23 August)
Reading is Magic!
Calling all bookworms! This term, we're thrilled to celebrate the Children's Book Council of Australia's Book Week with the enchanting theme "Reading is Magic."
Get ready for a week of exciting activities planned for Week 6, designed to engage all of our STM students! We'll kick things off with a magical Book Week Parade on Monday, August 19th, after the morning assembly.
We encourage all students to dress up on this day and get creative with the theme. Children might like to dress up as their favourite book character, or a magical item to match this year's theme, eg. a wand, a talking hat, a magnifying glass – the possibilities are endless! Parents and younger siblings are invited to join in the fun too! After the parade, we'll have a special time for parents to read with their children in the classrooms.
In the lead-up to Book Week, why not embrace the magic at home? Develop positive reading routines and share the joy of stories with your children.
Prime Minister's Spelling Bee
Calling all budding wordsmiths! The Prime Minister's Spelling Bee is back this year, and we're excited to offer this opportunity to students in Years 3-6. This free online competition is a fun way for children to challenge themselves, build vocabulary, and boost their confidence in spelling.
All teachers in years 3-6 have explained the spelling bee and asked students if they would like to take part in this. If your child has expressed interest in participating, a permission form will be sent home shortly. This permission is required before the school can register your child for the school competition.
