There is a correlation between employee engagement and employee retention. Job dissatisfaction, low engagement, and employee turnover are costly for employers. Those also create workflow disruptions, loss of productivity, and decreased work performance, which
destroys organizational memory and the ability to have experienced mentors. To overcome this problem, we must reflect on why people leave their organizations or the workforce altogether. This Action Research Project included a voluntary Employee Engagement survey of staff at the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA). The results were shared and presented to the participants using a collaborative approach. This presentation includes the research behind why employee engagement is important, the survey results, staff feedback, and opportunities for improvement using positive leadership theory. This was included in the final recommendations for the management team at MNA, with the goal of increasing employee engagement and retention.
