Welcome to 6th Grade Social Studies!
Mrs. Sundell
Welcome!
Be ready to test your flexibility, creativity, and perseverance
The most important thing you can do is be aware and structure your day to make sure you are taking care of yourself and your school work. Try to establish a routine. If you can follow a routine each day, you will feel better and more importantly look better.
Mind Set
During the year you may find yourself not in class due to a variety of reasons. On those off days, you are responsible to watch, take notes, complete projects or assignments just as if you were in class in person. I will provide a high level description on the Middle School website, but the details will be found in Google Classroom.
While my intentions are pure, technology does not always cooperate. If things are not readily available, take a deep breath, count to 10 and come back later to check the status.
Just as I stated in my expectations, communication is key. If you are having difficulty and need help, please email me. I will get back to you when I can. While my intention is always to get back to students within minutes, given my teaching schedule, that will not be possible. Please be patient. I promise I will get back to you.
Class Overview
6th Grade Social Studies emphasis is on the world's geography in addition to the history, economies, and cultures of the Western Hemisphere.
We utilize primary and secondary sources to develop a greater understanding on the world beyond our city. Students will develop the ability to think more critically and express their ideas and understanding in various formats.
Homework is assigned and submitted through Google Classroom.
While looking at the past in important, it is equally important to be aware of what is currently happening in our world. We will periodically discuss current events and how they relate to the bigger world or historical events.
If you would like to retake a quiz or test, please talk to Mrs. Sundell.
