The Diocese of Charleston Catholic schools respond to “the challenge of sharing the Gospel of salvation in both word and loving action” to all students. To the extent possible, Catholic schools serve children with special needs in general education classes through a learning environment that fosters growth and considers the needs of the individual child. Recognizing that each school is unique and has different resources available to serve students with special needs, this handbook is designed to serve as a resource guide for Catholic educators within the Diocese of Charleston for development of special education programs. It was developed to be a work in progress and will be added to as the need arises, and additional resources become available. The processes and forms may be adapted to meet individual site needs.
Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me
