Fun, difficult, interesting, captivating. Those all are different characteristics from video games. It is a very common way to entertain ourselves for hours. It’s interesting to know about new, old and famous games that revolutionized the entertainment industry, plus are constantly adapting to the year, moment or technology. They have existed since 1970 and from there until today they still have a big influence on the entertainment industry. And did you actually know that, they almost ended? Simple mechanics make big games and much more here.
Many games, old or new, famous or not, have something interesting about it . Most of the curiosities in them are secrets, in its code, in their original idea or in its actual idea. According to Linkedin and Cracked “Alongside the well-known and celebrated aspects of gaming culture, there are fascinating, obscure, and utterly useless facts that often go unnoticed” Since the first curiosities, the first “easter egg”, games never were the same, always having something behind it. Some examples are “Minecraft's Randomly Generated Worlds The vast and randomly generated landscapes in Minecraft are so extensive that it would take approximately 17,513 years to explore every possible world.” and “Mario's Original Profession In the early arcade game Donkey Kong (1981), Mario was known as "Jumpman" and worked as a carpenter, not a plumber.”
Pokémon, one of the most famous game series in history, has many interesting curiosities behind its creation.. Based on one interview by Satoshi Tajiri, “Pokémon was inspired by insect collecting and his childhood experiences.” That is just one in a mountain of curiosities like “Each Region Is Based on a Real-World Location. From Kanto (Japan) to Paldea (Scarlet/Violet, based on Spain), every region in the main games is inspired by real-world geography.”,“Time affects evolution and events. Starting with Gold and Silver, in-game time (day/night) affects events, wild Pokémon, and evolutions—like Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon.” and “Capsule Monsters Came Before Pokémon. The original concept for Pokémon was called Capsule Monsters, inspired by gashapon capsule toy vending machines in Japan.
Almost every famous game has an innovative mechanic. This game used AI in a way that was never used in games before. In the development game MIR5 we will have a new boss called Lord Of The Void and it is one of the first bosses in games that use AI to improve the boss fight. According to Nvidia “The possibilities are endless, and with dynamic AI no two fights should be the same, making gameplay more exciting and engaging.” They say that “this AI” will “evaluate the current loadout and setup of the humans it's currently facing, compare those to past encounters, and decide on the best course of action to attain victory”
One simple mechanic could make a common game become one of the most famous new games in the World!. One example is R.e.p.o, a simple multiplayer, a horror game that got very popular because of its simple voice chat mechanic. According to the game’s wiki “R.E.P.O. is an online co-op horror game featuring physics and proximity voice chat” This mechanic made the game gain notoriety and many people started playing the game.
Games aren't “just” created, they also have historical facts. Some very famous games like “Assassin's Creed" or “Call of Duty” have historical information. Hai says that “Historical elements aren’t just for a particular genre of video game experience: historically-informed games range from dense, graphically intense computer and high-end console games to small, mobile experiences. The games can directly take place in historical eras, referencing historical people, places, and events, or loosely draw upon them for inspiration.”
Games already had many changes, and because of this, games had good and bad moments. Did you also know that the games almost ended but “Mario” saved the game industry? In Cbr this discussion was made and they say that “By being good enough to be revolutionary and far better than anything that had been seen before. In order to see just how good Super Mario Bros was we need to compare what it looked like to the nearest competition it had before it came out. In 1982 the world’s biggest selling console was the Atari 2600/Atari VCS. Probably the best game on the Atari 2600, and certainly the second best selling game was Activision’s Pitfall!,”
Did you already want to know what the most popular games were? People analysed many different games and in Hp we have the tier list “The is first Minecraft that sell 350,000,000 copies, the second is Grand Theft Auto V that sell 215,000,000 copies, the third is Wii Sports that sell 82,900,000 copies, the fourth is Ark: Survival Evolved that sell 79,045,000 copies, the fifth is Mario Kart 8 / Deluxe that sell 76,660,000 copies, the sixth is Pokémon Red / Blue / Yellow that sell 76,140,000 copies…”
It is very fascinating to see how games and entertainment industries evolved and adapted. The entertainment industry would be very different if gaming did not exist. Did you think that if the game industry didn’t adapt any game that you play would exist today? Games are the best way to pass the evening after a long day. They can be relaxing, difficult, interesting, engaging but that does not change the fact that they are an important piece of the entertainment industry. Based on Hp, today there were more than 1 billion games sold in all history being 1 third of that being just on minecraft. Games are always changing and adapting, so what's next?
