A Message from Administration

Dear St. Albert Families.

I hope that everyone was able to have a peaceful week away from school and had time to enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday with family and friends.

We are at the beginning of a new trimester! During the last 2 trimesters of the year, all students- grades 2-8 will participate in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program, as part of their Reading or Literature classes. Participation is required, as it will factor into the student’s overall Reading/Literature grade.

There are 3 basic components to how AR works:

So, what are the benefits of AR? It goes without saying that students that read more perform better in all academic areas. Accelerated Reader fosters a culture of reading through choice and recognizing their achievements. It gives them an opportunity to read to their interest while also allowing them to explore other possible interests. There are over 220,000 selections to choose from, in ALL genres!  It increases self-confidence, because students are reading books at a level that they can read and comprehend. The reports generated by AR provide the teachers with insight into each student’s progress and their mastery toward certain skills.

Our teachers do a great job of getting students excited about AR! But it also requires support from home. Students will need time to read independently. For our little readers this can also come in the form of reading aloud to them! Students will need access to books. They are always welcome to take books from our school or classroom libraries, but they may also need trips to the public library or access to books that may be sitting around your house.

If you have any questions about the AR program, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your child’s teacher.

Sincerely,

Allison French

Learning Coordinator

Reminder About Deliveries

In an effort to teach our students about being accountable for their own belongings as well as to limit the number of visitors to the school during the day and effectively monitor those visitors coming into the school, we have a policy that does NOT allow for student deliveries. Parents, please do not bring items (lunches, homework, coats/clothing, presentations, papers, Chromebooks, etc.) to school to drop off for your child/children. Our main office staff have been instructed not to accept those deliveries. Thank you for your cooperation with these efforts.

A few exceptions: eyeglasses, medication, or lunches when the cafeteria is closed.

Please remember to always keep an eye on the daily forecast, as the temperature is changing and the students begin to wear heavier coats.

Reminder About Illnesses

Please be mindful of the school-wide policy regarding illness. We ask that your child be fever/vomit/symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school.

St. Albert Men's Fellowship

Looking for brotherhood and a strong sense of community? The St. Albert Men's Fellowship is just for you! The idea for the fellowship came about in 2022, when several parishioners began to get together informally to share ideas, opportunities and to sharpen one another in different ways. Over the year, the group has grown, and we're excited to formalize our gatherings at St. Albert, inviting all our parish brothers to come meet other like-minded men interested in forming strong friendships, deepening their faith, and participating in service. "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." Proverbs 17:17

Join the Fellowship on Thursday, November 30th at 7:30pm in the Cafeteria for pizza, drinks, and some NFL (Seahawks vs. Cowboys) on the TV! The group will be providing an update on initial plans & brainstorming ideas to get involved in parish life. If interested in attending, please click the link to fill out the form and tell us more about yourself. If you have any questions, please contact Nick Norcia at NLNorcia@gmail.com.

Environmental Concerns Committee Christmas Light Recycling

Have you bought new string lights for the holidays, and don’t know what to do with the tangled-up old strings you have?

After bringing your family holiday cheer your Christmas lights deserve better than the dump! Holiday light strings contain materials which sit in a landfill for years, but can be recycled into construction materials, car batteries, electronics, jewelry, and more.

St. Albert will be collecting used holiday lights to reduce their impact on the environment. Parishioners can leave string lights in the back of church on the following weekends:

December 9th/10th & 16th/17th

January 6th/7th & 13th/14th

If you would like to protect and preserve the earth consider joining the Environmental Concerns Committee. Contact Mark Wehrley for more information call or text 741-3216 or call 456-5176, or email akmojo@aol.com.
