Installing Google Drive
Google drive is used not only to backup your own work files so you aren't dependent on your hard disk not failing, but also to access the file share through file explorer as opposed to through the Google drive website. If you run into any issues, please contact IT and we can walk you through this process
Click the Settings cog, and click 'Get Drive for Desktop'
On the next page, click 'Download Drive for desktop'
Download and run the file
Uncheck the 2 boxes and click 'Install'
Click 'Sign in with browser' and login to your work Google account
Close the completed installation
Click 'Open Preferences' - If this doesn't pop up, you can right click on the google drive icon in the task tray, click the settings cog, and click preferences
Click 'No Thanks' to the tour
Click the 'Google Drive' tab on the left, then click 'Ok'
Ensure 'Stream Files' bubble is filled. This will keep Google drive from downloading every file present in your Google drive, but allow you to access any of them when you have Internet connection
Now go to 'This PC' - You will see a 'G' Drive. This is your Google drive.
It uses space on your hard drive if you download files for offline use, if you are short on space, try to rely on file streaming completely or let us know so we can get you a larger hard disk.
In order to make files available for 'offline' use - simply right click them, Click 'Offline access' and click 'Available offline'
