When our district shut down in March of 2020, the need to communicate effectively with our families became more important than ever. Our district uses many avenues for connecting with our stakeholders. I help by posting updates as needed to our district and building LMS feeds. Please see an example below:
We are into our 3rd year of using a district-wide LMS. Our teachers use Schoology to provide a safe digital space for our students to discuss ideas and work on projects. The ability of parents to also interact with this tool makes an LMS a powerful way to communicate with our stakeholders. In an effort to further promote and support this tool with our families, I have developed the following form for teachers to send home to our families. I am additionally available to take parent calls, emails and visits when they are having issues.
The following invitation was one that I created for families in the district to invite them to a fun "Family Maker Challenge". This invitation was sent out using district social media channels as well as in print. Communicating with families in this digital age presents new challenges, but also allows for new possibilities to meet our families where they are.
