Our district benefits from Apples for the Students. This is a program run through Giant Eagle. Each spring we receive a small amount of money to be invested back into our students. It is my job to help decide how this money should be spent. Last spring we purchased some KEVA planks. These are building tools.
I also work with all of the children in our elementary school on digital literacy and citizenship. A focus for this school year has been the importance of balancing our screen time with other healthy activities and pursuits. I have been able to connect an introduction to our KEVA planks with lessons on balancing screen time, thus responding to a very real need for our students.
The following interest inventory was given to students prior to a lesson on Google Docs. The data collected with this survey was used to tailor the lesson and meet the needs of the class and their unique learning preferences.
