Switching to a new Student Information System is a big endeavor for any school district. This year our district moved to the Sapphire SIS. This move now allows our school to provide digital progress reports and report cards for our students. Our teachers needed support and training in order for this evolution to be a success. My role in the district is to directly support staff with technology integration. In addition to many face-to-face trainings, I also created various support guides and videos to assist our teachers. Please see the attached guide and video for how to create a Mid-Term Progress Report.
With ever increasing digital content and tools now available to both teachers and students, I have helped to deliver a procedure for requesting new apps or resources for our learners. When a new resource is desired, instructors complete a brief request form (linked below) that asks them to focus on specific qualities of a tool and how it will improve student learning. After teachers complete this request, I research each tool and complete the same form. A small team then meets once a month to review these requests and determine if this is a quality tool that we are able to add to our district collection.
This year we had our very first Family Maker Challenge to correspond with our elementary school One Book "The Wild Robot". This event was planned and facilitated by myself and my colleague alongside our building principals. Because we bought some very specific and costly tools for this event, we needed to ensure that we managed them well. Tools were checked out and then checked back in by a high school volunteer stationed at the front door.
