One of my favorite ways to collect informal feedback from staff about a PD session that I have developed and/or facilitated is to ask them to reflect upon what they learned. This method of informal assessment often gives me important data on where gaps may be, skills that resonated or ideas that I had not even considered. Please see an example from one such session below:
Am I helping my colleagues? What does that support truly look like? How am I spending my time? Is my time used efficiently? These are questions that run through my head often as an instructional coach. This year I am keeping a log of how my time is spent daily. I fill out this log each afternoon during the last five minutes of my day. Please see an example of some of the data below:
Prior to teaching a digital citizenship lesson to learners grades 3-5 in our elementary school, I had each of them fill out the pre-assessment form below so that I was able to quickly determine prior knowledge and experience with this topic. This pre-assessment data then guided the direction of my ensuing lesson.
