Please complete the following activities with your child. These activities can be completed throughout the week at your own pace.
Click on the link to the right to listen to the story read-aloud.
You can listen to this story several times throughout the week.
Expressive Language: Using the pictures of the clothing below, ask your child to name each item of clothing they see. Use the carrier phrase, "I see a ________". If your child has difficulty saying the whole sentence, you can say it for them first and see if they will repeat it (ie: I see a shirt). If they don't repeat it, it's okay.
Receptive Language: Name each item of clothing and ask your child to touch the picture (ie: "Touch shirt"). If they don't touch it, gently move their hand to touch the picture. Extend the activity by having them find the clothing on themselves or around the house.
Extension #1: Ask your child where do they wear each item of clothing and ask them to point to the part of their body where they wear it. Ask, "Where do you wear your socks?" If they are able to answer, "on my feet" , then say, "show me". If they do not give you a verbal answer, then you can say, "You wear them on your feet" and then you can touch or point to their feet.
Extension #2: Sort real items from around your house such as clothes and toys. Put clothing in a basket and toys in another. Ask your child do you play with this or wear it?
