Simons Says -- Let's -- Read Poetry for Pleasure
Poetry is not a puzzle; it's an opportunity. Be careful. You might enjoy it.
It's true. There are people out there who read poetry that -- wait for it -- hasn't been assigned to them [gasp]. It's true. Why? Because poetry says something essential about life, about being a human being. Let's read poetry to figure out who we are. Let's experience the pleasure of playing with a poem's ideas. Let's simply develop a language for discussing those ideas. We just might find out that poetry is a powerful way to make more sense of our world.
