Example Thesis Statements:
Ex: Based on the crime scene evidence, new evidence, and various theories, it is probable to believe that John F. Kennedy was not assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald but by members of the Mafia.
Ex: Contrary to the widely held belief that Marilyn Monroe committed suicide, it is plausible to believe that she was actually murdered based on what was found at the crime scene, evidence discovered away from the crime scene, and several different theories.
Sample Thesis Statements (Problem/Solution Essay):
Because plastic is a major contributor to polluting our oceans, people should do their part by using reusable grocery bags and avoiding single use plastics.
Because eating disorders are often due to, in part, a sense of control and addiction, society should allow for more awareness, discussion, and therapy for all parties involved.
Example Introduction:
“I am good, but not an angel. I do sin, but I am not the devil. I am just a small girl in a big world trying to find someone to love.”
― Marilyn Monroe (“Marilyn Monroe. . .”). It is no doubt that Marilyn Monroe lived a life of ups and downs. Yet, before her death on August 5, 1962, there is evidence to show that she was not suicidal and instead had a big announcement to make to the public. Unfortunately, she was never able to make that announcement because she was found dead in her home of a supposed drug overdose. Yet, contrary to the widely held belief that she committed suicide, it is plausible to believe that she was actually murdered based on what was found at the crime scene, evidence discovered away from the crime scene, and several different theories.
