Course Content

Media Studies students explore the world of media and the impact it has on audiences and the wider population. You will examine how media products are produced and marketed. Then you will make your own. You will also analyse how the media represents groups of people and how it can influence our opinions. This is a modern and fast paced course which focuses on  the products that you spend a lot of time interacting with. Are you curious? For example, do you know why Fortnite is considered to be the most addictive game ever, how adverts encourage us to buy things, what makes a film a 12 certificate, which organisation tries to stop newspapers from printing lies? Choose Media Studies and you will find out.

This rigorous course combines theory with practical work in a fun, challenging way that makes learning enjoyable. We will study Television, Film, Radio, Newspapers, Magazines, Print Advertising, Video Games, Music Videos and Online Media.
