Course Content

The PD course has been planned to incorporate the curriculum for Citizenship Education, Personal, Social & Health Education(PSHE), Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)

Employers and further/higher education providers highly value the skills and attitudes developed as part of our PD course as it focuses on the practicalities of life, individual responsibilities, cultural understanding and building independence that is proactive and successful. PD has 1hour per week timetabled lesson for all students in Year 7 to 11, the course content is organised so that topics are revisited, so that issues can be tackled at an age appropriate level in more depth as students mature. PD is not an examined subject; this allows students to focus on their own personal effort and progress rather than grades.

In KS4, topics covered include:

Skills Developed

PD  subjects are ideal, not only to help nurture students' transition through teen years on into adulthood with more knowledge, understanding and practical skills; they also allow students to explore local, national and global issues.

The course will help students to develop strong critical thinking skills and it will also open up opportunities for independent research.
