Course Content

We are delivering the ‘Making a difference’ project in KS4 core PE at the moment.  This is a Sport England initiative supported by the Youth Sports Trust, to try and raise engagement, enjoyment and well-being through PE lessons.

The students select which activity they would like to cover over each four week block.  The students pick firstly a fitness based activity, then a fun-based activity such as Fifa football or Kingball, and then a games activity.  This rotation happens 3 times in a year.  The students can work with their friends and teachers deliver they strengths so you could be rotating teachers each block.  The project has been very positively received by KS4 so far.

Skills Developed

Assessment

Students are given an ‘Approach to learning’ score for their attitude, pro-activeness and effort levels during their core PE lessons.

Students also studying for either the GCSE PE or Sports Studies qualification, can use the core PE lessons as extra evidence for either their team or individual sports they will be assessed in for their GCSE.
