Skills Developed

• Be able to share your interests, ideas and opinions with other people who speak the language

• Learn about countries where the language is spoken; improve geographical, cultural and historical knowledge.

• By adding an international dimension, cultural awareness and enhanced communication skills to your choice of GCSE subjects, you will have ‘added extras’ in terms of skills that are often sought after by employers and higher education establishments.

• Learn other skills which are useful in a wide range of careers, such as the ability to communicate clearly, being confident about speaking in public and using problem solving strategies

• Create greater opportunities to work abroad, or for companies in the UK with international links or which seek to promote events and tourism in your local area.

• Access certain areas in careers for which UK security is a focus, such as intelligence services (GCHQ) the armed forces, the UN, Nato or the diplomatic services in embassies and consulates around the world.
