Dual Credit Information / Registration and Required Paperwork

Dual Credits - What are they?

Dual credits are credits that count as high school credit and post secondary (university or technical college) credits for the same course. The courses are taught per the university or technical college standards, by staff at those institutions or Spencer staff certified to teach them at a dual credit level. Dual credits are earned when the standard set by the post secondary institution is met.

Dual credits may or may not transfer to the institution students attend after high school as that is determined by that school and the program requirements but taking the classes at the high school level provides an opportunity for those possible credit transfers. The School District of Spencer financially supports these dual credits for students so it is a great college savings plan while in high school.

ECCP (Early College Credit Program) through the University of Wisconsin system and SCN (Start College Now) through the Wisconsin Technical College System are additional programs that allow for dual credits while in high school as long as the application requirements are met and the Spencer Board of Education approves the courses for the student applying.
