Drama

Course Description

The study of Drama focuses on the creation and performance of characters and stories. Students draw on a range of play-making techniques to develop and present their work. Students also respond and explore stimulus material. Students explore conventions of Epic Theatre, Poor Theatre, and the Theatre of Cruelty to present devised work. Students combine these skills to create an ensemble and solo performance. Students will create characters through the development of expressive skills.

• This elective is not just for those who enjoy acting. It is also for those who enjoy creating things and watching ideas come to life on stage. Those interested in theatre technologies may also be inspired.

• Learning to be an effective member of a group during rehearsals and interacting in a constructive manner with others to achieve a desired goal is an important skill that is transferable to many situations.

• Students who are considering a pathway in any of the Arts areas may find this subject beneficial.
