Course Description

Tired of learning about history from textbooks? If so, this elective is for you! Learn about what it was really like to serve in WWI through the examination primary sources such as artefacts, service records and first-hand accounts. Build models of battlefields and the machines of war. Debate the bigger issues of conscription and the Anzac legend. Not only will you build valuable history skills through inquiry based learning you will also come to understand the personal stories of Australians at war from the Boer War right through to modern conflicts.

What will you gain from studying History? A love of History that you will draw upon for the rest of your life, whether it be because you travel the world or want to have an understanding of your place in the bigger picture. You’ll develop critical thinking skills that will help you in the senior school and can be used in any occupation including analytical thinking, problem solving, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
