The Board of Education Scholarship was established to award underrepresented students who may otherwise be passed over for scholarship consideration. The criteria for this scholarship are as follows:
Grade Point Average: 2.0 or higher.
Volunteerism: A demonstrated commitment and dedication to volunteering in community activities or school activities. Please note: This is committed volunteerism, such as fundraisers, working at school events, church activities, etc. A one-day volunteer activity should not be considered, unless it is coupled with other events throughout the year.
Leadership: The recipient(s) does not necessarily need to be an outspoken leader, but someone who tends to lead by example by being positive and supportive.
Career Goals: The recipient(s) has clear goals and post-secondary plans.
Perseverance: The recipient(s) has exhibited perseverance by overcoming a personal obstacle or circumstance. This will be known through an essay the student will write for this scholarship.
