John was a proud and dedicated police officer for almost 50 years. He graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. The majority of his career was spent with the Kent City Police Department. John retired from Kent in 2011, but was still very active doing what he loved. He was a sergeant for Munroe Falls PD, a negotiator with Metro SWAT, and a bailiff for Stow Municipal Court. During his career, John was also a member of Portage County SWAT, a TSA agent at Akron Canton Airport, and worked for Akron Children’s Hospital Safety Department.
