Excursions (experiences outside of the school) and incursions (experiences that take place on school grounds) are important parts of your child’s education. Costs for excursions and incursions are covered in the Education Levy.
These are learning experiences that are run by an external (third-party) provider at school. You will receive notification of a coming incursion via Seesaw. This will detail any requirements for the session. Consent to take part in an incursion is not generally needed.
Excursions are learning experiences that occur off-site. They may be run by an external provider or just use a location that is not the school. A camp is a particular type of excursion with extra requirements.
Consent needs to be given for your child to go off-site for an excursion. This consent includes giving staff the authority to make medical decisions when needed, authority to travel to and from the location by a particular mode of transport, and agreeing to pick your child up if their behaviour is inappropriate.
Consent for excursions is given through ICON Community Portal only.
To give consent for your child to attend:
Go to icon.cev.vic.edu.au
Log in with your email address and password
Click on the green Community Portal button
Click on the Excursions tab or image of the bus
Click 'Open' to begin the process.
Follow the prompts to confirm details and give consent.
Some excursions may require extra adult assistance. If helpers are required, the teacher-in-charge will ask for volunteers. All volunteers on excursions, including parents, need a Working With Children Check and completed Child Safety induction.
