1830, many the "First Nations" tribes escaped to Canada. However, a small band of Algonquin speaking Native Americans moved west, then south, with ”early treaties giving them land grants near Chicago and Platte country Missouri”...
Literally, the people who had the LEGAL title to the land of ZION in 1830 were the Potawatomi indians, who had been in Iowa for a little more than five years…This fact sheds new light on DyC 101:55, 58, 71 when the Lord tells JS to "gather up the residue of my people" and "go get my vineyard back" => Go get the legal land owners, and stand united with them...

Pottawatomi /ˌpɑːtəˈwɑːtəmiː/, - “the Potawatomi were considered the "youngest brother" (Jacob?)and were referred to as Bodéwadmi, which means "those who tend the hearth-fire"
The Potawatomi called themselves Neshnabé, a cognate of the word Anishinaabe. The Pottawatomi traditionally speak the Potawatomi language, a member of the Algonquian family =>
The Potawatomi teach their children about the "Seven Grandfather Teachings"
Saturday, June 24, 1843: "Several of the Pottawatomie [sic] Indians called to see the Nauvoo House and Temple. They wanted to talk, But their interpreter could not speak much." According to Dr. T. Edgar Lyon, well-known Church historian associated with Nauvoo Restoration, Inc., Nauvoo was a prominent spot for Indians and was called by them Quashquema. Indian burial grounds abounded in the area." - Background of the Church Historian’s Fragment.” Improvement Era 71, no. 2 (Feb. 1968): 40–41.
Wait... Potawatomi Indian chiefs, part of the SAME group that got pushed out of their land in Missouri, ended up in Nauvoo, ...purely by “coincidence” ?? 🤔
When these Indians arrived, the Prophet Joseph was not in town. He had been forcefully taken the day before by two sheriffs from Missouri, who transported him under false arrest to Dixon, Lee County, Illinois, some 140 miles northeast of Nauvoo. He was re- leased several days later under a writ of habeas corpus. This is from Wilford Woodruff's Journal, which contains the following: "The Indian chiefs remained at Nauvoo until the Prophet returned and had his trial. During their stay they had a talk with Hyrum Smith in the basement of the Nauvoo House. . . . They were not free to talk, and did not wish to communicate their feelings until they could see the great Prophet."
Sunday, July 2, 1843: "I had an interview with several Pottawat- tamie [sic] chiefs, who came to see me during my absence." President Joseph Smith and several of the Twelve met those chiefs in the court-room, with about twenty of the elders. The Indian orator arose and asked the Prophet if the men who were present were all his friends. Answer—yes. "He then said—'We as a people have long been distressed and oppressed. We have been driven from our lands many times. . . . We have talked with the Great Spirit, and the Great Spirit has talked with us. We have asked the Great Spirit to save us and let us live; and the Great Spirit has told us that he had raised up a great Prophet, chief and friend, who would do us great good and tell us what to do; and the Great Spirit has told us that you are the man (pointing to the Prophet Joseph). We have now come a great way to see you, and hear your words, and to have you to tell us what to do. Our horses have become poor traveling, and we are hungry. We will now wait and hear your word.' "
The Spirit of God rested upon the Lamanites, especially the orator. Joseph was much affected and shed tears. He arose and said unto them:
'I have heard your words. They are true. The Great Spirit has told you the truth. I am your friend and brother, and I wish to do you good. . . . The Great Spirit has given me a book, and told me that you will soon be blessed again. The Great Spirit will soon begin to talk with you and your children. This is the book which your fathers made. I wrote upon it | showing them the Book of Mormon |. This tells you what you will have to do. I now want you to begin to pray to the Great Spirit. I want you to make peace with one another, and do not kill any more Indians; it is not good. Do not kill white men; it is not good; but ask the Great Spirit for what you want, and it will not be long before the Great Spirit will bless you, and you will cultivate the earth and build good houses like white men. We will give you something to eat and to take home with you.'
When the prophet's words were interpreted to the chiefs, they all said it was good. . . .
At the close of the interview, Joseph had an ox killed for them, and —they were furnished with more horses. . .
Aug 12, 1843, many more Chiefs met with Joseph Smith and said the following…"
“We have asked the Great Spirit to save us and let us live; and the Great Spirit has told us that he has raised up a great Prophet, chief, and friend, who would do us great good and tell us what to do; and the Great Spirit has told us that you are the man (pointing to the Prophet Joseph). We have now come to see you, and hear your words, and to have you tell us what to do.” (HC 5:480)
Nearly forty sac and fox Indians came to Nauvoo to see Joseph smith... he showed them a copy of the he book of mormon… and told them "the great spirit told me that you must send this book to all the tribes that you can and tell them to live in peace when any of our people come to see you I want you to treat them as we treat you”…
April 11, 1844 - “Sacs and Foxes, Sioux's and Potawatomies, were consulted, and their assent obtained previous to the …crowning of the King. These delegations of Indians were seen by hundreds of "saints" inNauvoo, but "the object of their visitation never was ascertained”...
Prior to his assassination, Smith reportedly prophesied to Brigham Young and other leaders, “You will yet be called upon to go the “strongholds of the Rocky Mountains,” Smith predicted. “You will gather the Red Man.. . from their scattered and dispersed situation to become the strong arm of Jehovah.” At that time, he continued, the Lamanite would become “a strong bulwark of protection from your foes.”
One month and four days after his visit with these Sac (Sauk) and Fox Indians Joseph smith was assassinated....
March 1, 1845 the council of fifty met in the seventies hall to discuss Joseph smiths suggestion that "the council seek out a location and a home where the saints can dwell in peace and health and where they can the ensign and standard of liberty for the nations and live by the laws of god without being oppressed and mobbed under tyrannical governments without protection from the laws”
Joseph Smith approved a plan for enlisting the indians to help build the kingdom of god - in this regard the cherokee and choctaw had already requested an interview with the elders of the church
James Emmett and Lyman Wight took steps to carry out Joseph Smiths plans to find a resting place among the Lamanties by taking two companies into Indiana territory.
The council added several people... among the number was Lewis Dana an Oneida Indian, who traveled several hundred miles to Illinois with his wife and daughter to visit the Mormons. The native styled himself as “an Interpreter of six tribes,” whom he confidently predicted would “receive the work.” He himself did, being “joyfully” baptized in May 1840. Mr. Dana is believed to have been the first lamanite who has been admitted a member of any quorum of the church. Lewis and his wife Mary Gont were at the heart of the Mormons' Lamanite effort for the next decade.
~ 40 Indians visited in mid-May
When the US government broke these treaties, and forced the Potawatomi from Missouri, 1,450 members of this Potawatomi tribe migrated from Missouri to council bluffs iowa… before Brigham and the saints went there, after being driven out.
Saturday, July 11, 1846. "At seven a.m. President Brigham Young and the brethren with him went into council in Powsheeks' tent, which was on the east side of the creek.
"Powsheek asked, where they would winter and where they would cross the Missouri. It was reported that somebody had stolen from the 'Mormons.' Powsheek said if he found anything, he would return it. . . . "Powsheek spoke of Joseph Smith, the prophet, who had been murdered and with whom he had been acquainted; said, the prophet was a great and good man.
"As the Presidency passed out of the tent, Banquejappa, a Pottawatomie [sic] Chief, called us aside, and presented a paper counseling the Indians not to sell their lands, given them by Jon. Dunham, and two sheets of hieroglyphics, from the Book of Abra-ham.
President B. Young started at ten minutes after eight, rode till twenty-two minutes after ten, when they stopped at the west branch of the Nodaway, with Ezra Chase; they resumed their journey at half past eleven and arrived at Pottawatomie Indian village forty five minutes after one p.m. "A Pottawatomie captain presented
two sheets of the Book of Abraham; also
a letter from their 'Father' Joseph Smith, dated 1843, and
a map of their land by W. W. Phelps"
The location of these meetings was in western Iowa, where the Saints were establishing themselves at Council Bluffs, Mount Pisgah, and other camps in preparation for the winter of 1846, previous to the general exodus to the Rocky Mountains a year later. The West Nodaway River generally ranges 45-55 miles east and southeast of present-day Omaha, Nebraska. From Church history, it appears that Brigham Young was moving westward to- ward Council Bluffs at the time.
(As early as 1938, Dr. Sidney B. Sperry of Brigham Young University, the "father" of much of our modern Pearl of Great Price research, mentioned in part this intriguing entry in Ancient Records Testify in Papyrus and Stone, an MIA course of study.)

Because "David, the prince” [Mulekite] is a KING, heir to the throne of Israel. He may/maynot be a priest, depending on his bloodline. As kind, or even an Aaronic priesthood holder, David will be allowed to provide animals for sacrifice, but he may not be able to perform ordinances that require a High Priest (Ezek. 45:11-19). If he can not, to restore the full covenant with Jehovah, this "King" (Melek) must therefore, find a High "Priest" (Zadok) who has legal claim to the Priesthood by lineage to restore the covenant that was broken by the House of Israel in the wilderness, by completing the 8x days of sacrifice for a SIN offering as described in Ezekiel 45:2, 4, 12; 45:22...

"I have tried for a number of years to get the minds of the Saints prepared to receive the things of God; but we frequently see some of them, after suffering all they have for the work of God, will fly to pieces like glass as soon as anything comes that is contrary to their traditions: they cannot stand the fire at all.

Brigham Young said: “It is our duty to feed and teach these Indians.” Let me quote a few lines from him:
"This is the land they and their fathers have walked over, called their own. And they have just as good right to call it theirs today as any children have to call any land their own. They have buried their fathers and mothers and children here. This is their home, and we have taken possession and occupy the land where they used to hunt. Now the game is gone, and they are left to starve. . . The Lord has given us the ability to cultivate the ground and reap bountiful harvests. We have an abundance of food for ourselves and for the stranger. . . We are living on their possessions and at their homes."
John Taylor said:
"The work among the Lamanites must not be postponed if we desire to retain the approval of God. Thus far we have been content simply to baptize them and let them run wild again, but this must continue no longer; the same devoted effort, the same care in instructing, the same organization and priesthood must be introduced and maintained in the House of Lehi as amongst those of Israel gathered from Gentile nations. As yet God has been doing all, and we comparatively nothing. He has led many of them to us, and they have been baptized, and now we must instruct them further and organize them into churches with proper presidencies, attach them to our stakes, organizations, etc., in one word, treat them exactly in these respects as we would and do treat our white brethren."
DyC 87:5 - "it shall come to pass also that the remnants who are left of the land will marshal themselves, and shall become exceedingly angry, and shall vex the Gentiles with a sore vexation. And thus, with the sword and by bloodshed the inhabitants of the earth shall mourn..."
DyC 52:2 - "in Missouri, upon the land which I will consecrate unto my people, which are a remnant of Jacob, and those who are heirs according to the covenant."
DyC 19:27 - "Which is my word to the Gentile, that soon it may go to the Jew, of whom the Lamanites are a remnant,[many Mulekite discenters... see Alma] that they may believe the gospel, and look not for a Messiah to come who has already come."
Alma 46:23-24, 27 - "...we are a remnant of the seed of Jacob; yea, we are a remnant of the seed of Joseph, whose coat was rent by his brethren into many pieces"
JST Genesis 9:15 - "And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, And I, behold, I will establish my covenant with you, which I made unto your father Enoch, concerning your seed after you."
