Sexual Assault Resources

This section of the course is presented for two groups, those who may have been victimized through some type of sexual violence and the rest of us who can all be Active Bystanders

For Victims

For anyone, male or female, who has been or is a victim of sexual violence/assault, Millersville University has several resources for you to consider:

The above website provides a wealth of information for students, including a section near the middle/bottom of the page entitled "Victim of Sexual Violence".

Millersville has an agreement with the YWCA of Lancaster (YWCA Sexual Assault and Prevention Counseling Center) to provide services for our students, https://ywcalancaster.org/programs/sexual-assault-prevention-and-counseling-center/

Millersville also has it's own counseling service on Campus found here: http://www.millersville.edu/counsel/

Or a person can call the Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County at 717-299-1249

For Active Bystanders

Being an active bystander could mean trying to stop an obvious assault or one that that is about to happen. But it could also mean that a person just doesn't let comments slide by that could be considered offensive by other people. There are various levels of being active and the one thing that we should all strive to do is not to become passive when dealing with a situation that ranges from minor to major.

Millersville University offers "Green Dot" training each year.

Look for information in Ville Daily for dates/times of these sessions.

This interactive website, (click here for - - - >) Decisions that Matter, provides an interactive experience for students to decide how to respond to various situations that place students in an active bystander role. You will need to complete this experience to finish one of the assignments for this week.

On this webpage, https://nomore.org/learn/bystander-scenarios/, there are multiple examples of how a bystander can be actively engaged in helping with various situations.
