Artgrid Review

Artgrid is a legit good stock video company. For $299-$599/y you get unlimited downloads of thousands of high-quality color graded 8K and RAW/LOG clips and simple, commercial license. I like the quality of videos and the unique Stories feature. Overall, Artgrid is a good company with a lot of value in it.

In Artgrid's library, you can browse clips by video theme, shot type, people, and the filmmaker. All the files in the library are organized by "stories" (more on that later) and by individual video clips, making it easy to find what you are looking for. I also find it really convenient that all the footage in the library is professionally color graded.

 Artgrid Pricing And Membership Options

Artgrid offers three annual plans. All come with the same unlimited license, grant full access to the whole library, and include graded footage. There are no monthly plans, so if you decide to join Artgrid, you will be billed annually. Let me tell you a bit about each plan so that you can decide which one suits you best. Keep in mind, that the only difference between the plans is the footage format you can download.

Artgrid Pricing Table

Junior - HD $24.92/month ($299 annually)

This plan includes unlimited downloads of Full HD resolution (1080p) clips in the H.264 video format. This is a great choice for those people who mainly create content for YouTube and other social media platforms. This is the most affordable plan that costs just $24.94 per month, billed at $299 annually.

Creator 4K $39.92/month ($479 annually)

This is Artgrid's most popular plan. It comes with unlimited downloads of 4K footage in ProRes and DNxHR formats. This plan would work for content creators who are looking for high-quality footage that would look great on the majority of screen sizes. This plan costs $39.92 per month, billed at $479 annually.

The professional Artgrid plan is perfect for filmmakers who often create videos for streaming services, commercials, etc. It allows unlimited downloads of  4K-8K clips, RAW/LOG footage, in ProRes or DNxHR formats. This is the most expensive plan (however, given the quality of footage you are getting the price is still very reasonable) that costs $49.92 per month, billed at $599 annually.

Artgrid FAQ

Artgrid Stories Explained

What makes Artgrid truly unique is a story-driven organization of clips. As you may know, Artgrid was created by filmmakers whose goal was to categorize all the footage to make it easy for anyone to find. Unlike other stock footage services that organize videos individually by theme or subject, Artgid's library is organized into collections with all of the footage being presented as a part of a story. Simply put, Artgrid Stories are groups of video clips organized by filmmakers to give you a better idea of how to use the footage. Every story range in length from 3 to 100 clips, with most clips being between 4 and 20 seconds.

Artgrid Stories Feature

This is one of my favorite features of Artgrid. It makes it extremely easy to find the content I'm looking for and really speeds up the editing process because I can use the video clips that are connected and create videos with a consistent style instead of browsing for random files and then spending hours color grading them.

Are The Downloads Really Unlimited?

Even though Artgrid subscription includes unlimited downloads, the daily number of downloads cannot exceed 100 stock videos. This has never bothered me, but I understand that some people might find it frustrating, considering the fact that some stories contain as many as 100 clips.

What Does Artgrid License Include?

One thing I absolutely love about Artgrid is how simple and straightforward their license is. When you join Artgrid, you get unlimited access to the entire library, and you can download as many clips as you need. All the footage is royalty-free and can be used in any private or commercial project. The license also covers clients who hire you to create content for them.

The footage downloaded from Artgrid's library can be used on any platform or medium, including TV, virtual reality, video games, film, mobile, and more. Artgrid's footage comes with a worldwide license that allows you to use the footage anywhere in the world.

All the footage in the library is available to all paid members so obviously, you do not receive the exclusive right to the videos you download.

What Happens If I Cancel Artgrid Subscription?

If you cancel your subscription you won't be able to download any new footage from the website. However, any footage that was downloaded before can be used in perpetuity. That means that you have nothing to worry about, as all the content you download from Artgrid is licensed to use forever even if your subscription expires.

Can I Cancel My Subscription And Get A Refund?

Surprisingly, yes! This is actually the first stock footage service I have ever used that actually offers a refund. There are a few things you should be aware of, though. If you, for any reason, change your mind and decide to cancel your subscription, you will be able to get a refund within 14 days from the date of its purchase or renewal. However, you won't be able to use any of the content you downloaded from Artgrid's library during the 14 days period.

How Can I Get 2 Months Free On Artgrid Subscription?

The members of the Artgrid Team sent me this special link that will give you 2 extra months of unlimited footage on your subscription for free. So if you decide to join Artgrid after reading this article, you will get 2 months' worth of subscription at no cost!

And if you are still hesitant about joining Artgrid, you can use the same link to sign up for a free account instead. This way you will be able to download preview clips and get yourself familiar with the site and then decide whether you like it or not.

Artgrid Alternatives

There is no doubt that Artgrid provides an excellent combination of unlimited downloads, simple license, and high-quality footage. But how does it compare to other stock footage sites? Let's take a quick look at Artgrid's main competitors now.

This is probably the most popular stock footage service at the moment. Storyblocks boast an impressive library of over 1.5 million items including videos, audio clips, and images. Storyblocks Unlimited Plan costs $65 a month (or $349 a year) and includes access to the entire library. There is also an option of purchasing a separate Unlimited Video Plan for just $39 a month (or $199 a year). Both plans include unlimited downloads. Storyblocks offers an easy license with unlimited usage that covers both personal and commercial projects.

The footage is available in HD and 4K formats, so you won't get the post-production capabilities of RAW / LOG file types like you would with Artgrid, but if that's not something that you need, then Storyblocks may be a good choice for you.

This is another subscription-based service that I really like. Envato Elements library features a wide range of digital assets, such as stock videos, music, web templates, fonts, WordPress themes and plugins, graphics, images, and more. The cost of a monthly subscription is $33, and if you opt for an annual membership you will get an even better deal and pay only $198 for a whole year. This includes unlimited downloads and access to all the files in the library.

The videos are only available in .mov format, and the license is somewhat tricky. All the assets in the library have the same commercial license but each item needs to be re-licensed every time you wish to use it. Other than that, it is a great service that would be perfect for video creators and web developers who want to have unlimited access to a vast selection of digital assets at a very low price.

This is the newest service on the list.  Motion Array has an extensive library of more than 600,000 digital assets, such as video clips, music, photos, Premiere Pro Plugins, After Effects templates, and more. Motion Array subscription costs $29,99 a month or $249,99 a year (which comes down to just $20,83 per month). This is an incredible value considering that you get unlimited downloads of all digital assets in the library. All the content is royalty-free and comes with a simple commercial license.

This sounds like a great deal, but keep in mind that, unlike Artgrid and Storyblocks, Motion Array allows you to use the downloaded assets only as long as your subscription is active. After that, you won't be able to use them in any new projects. However, everything you create using Motion Array assets while your membership was still active, will be covered forever.
