Death Note 2 (DN2) starts off right after the first movie. Our cast includes our friend Light, aka 'Kira'' his dad the Cap'n, celebrity Misa, the enigmatic L, TV reporter Takata (aka T), the nifty Ryuuk, and a new death god Rem.
Misa got a 2nd Death Note at the end of the first movie (this ties into the death of a 3rd death god), and since she loves 'Kira', she decides she will kill anyone opposing Kira. Bunch of cops die, and through some convolutions she figures out that Light is Kira.
Light and Misa get locked up to see if the murders stop (want a hint, nope). T reporter gets one of the Death Books, and starts killing off evil women. Both Misa and Light renounce the Books, and therefore lose their memories of the books, and then all kinds of shenanigans happen due to Light's twisted plans.
If you thought the first Death Note was twisty, the sequel will leave feeling like a pretzel. Acting was great again (well, Light was a bit over the top at the end), I still like the CGI for the death gods, and cat & mouse game was great, if a bit confusing at times. The ending was a bit of a let down, there was a particular twist I had in mine that didn't happen (PM if you would like to know).
Not quite as good as the first,, since a lot of the fun from the first was learning the 'rules' of the book, but still a must-see if you liked the first.
