LA LEGGENDA DI BIAGIO CARNIO E IL SUO FAMOSO SGUAZETO

Biagio umile salumiere della Carnia, lascia le sue montagne per cercare fortuna a Venezia nel 500. Nel suo mestiere era bravissimo ma la sua specialità era la preparazione degli insaccati e salumi in genere, questa era una tradizione che gli era stata tramandata dai suoi genitori che a sua volta gli era stata insegnata dai loro e così via. Biagio apre una osteria a Santa Croce, vicino a campo San Zandegolà. La sua specialità si chiamava sguazeto che consisteva in uno spezzatino di carne con salsiccia e aromi di vario tipo. Questa specialità era talmente buona che da ogni parte della città e anche talvolta dalla terra ferma si fermavano nella sua osteria per assaggiarla.Dopo molti anni un barcaiolo mentre stava degustando lo sguazeto, trovo nel suo interno un dito mozzato con un’unghia attaccata. Subito si recò a far denuncia e subito dopo Biagio fu arrestato. Dopo lunghi interrogatori, Biagio cedette e confessò che il suo famoso spezzatino aveva come ingrediente principale la carne di bambini che lui si procurava compiendo lui stesso omicidi. Portato davanti propria bottega dopo la sua confessione gli mozzarono le mani davanti alla folla inferocita e successivamente venne condotto a San Marco dove fu decapitato e smembrato in quattro pezzi. La sua bottega venne completamente rasa al suolo e la fondamenta dove sorgeva venne chiamata Riva di Biasio.

Brought in front of his shop after his confession they cut his hands before the angry mob and was later taken to San Marco, where he was beheaded and dismembered into four pieces. His shop was completely destroyed and the foundations where it stood was called Riva di Biasio.
