Thanks to the recent efforts of some mathematical institutes which promote the excellence in the African continent, many young Nigerian mathematicians are having the chance to improve their academic formation via MSc, PhD and postdoctoral programs in other African countries (or abroad in Europe).
Of course, there is some natural ``brain drain'' in this process of exchange of knowledge, but there is also the enrichment of highly skilled individuals, who decide to work as young academics in their home country. In particular, the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the Federal University of Technology Akure has recently attracted young African mathematical talents and there is a recent interest to pursue a path of internationalization, focusing on topics such as Topological Group Theory, Functional Analysis, Representation Theory and Abstract Algebra.
Looking at these fields, it turns out to be fundamental the presence of regular seminars and workshops, which allow us to give an appropriate international visibility to our scientific discussions. The benefits of an international environment are well known, but are relevant especially to those younger colleagues, who decide to move their first steps to the professional career of the mathematician.
From this site you can access information about our members, seminars, meetings and recent activities.
It is also possible to download a selection of scientific contributions, which are produced by our members in the last years.
