In the section below you will learn about any upcoming grade level events such as field trips, testing and things you can do to support GEMS AAQ

Middle School Play- April 21- “Kingdom of Three”

Field Trip- On April 27 from 10:00-12:00 pm grade three will be going on a Field Trip to Bricklyn (Lego Education) at the Bridge Education Center in Duhail.

Please return it as soon as possible along with the QAR 70 for your child.

GAAQ Library Reminder- No library books will be checked out after May 5, 2016. Students will be allowed to still read books in the library. Please make sure your child returns all of his or her books by that date. Thank you.

UNITS OF STUDY DURING TRIMESTER THREE:

During trimester three; third grade will be learning the following units of study. Please do take time to read and ask your individual teacher how you can continue learning at home. At the bottom of this newsletter; you will find your individual newsletter from your child’s teacher.

- READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS: Students will learn how to understand the difference between fables and morals as well as using adjectives and adverbs to enhance their writing. Students will understand the difference between suffixes and prefixes and will continue to use Figurative Language, context clues and text features.

- WRITING: Opinion Writing: Students will write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information.

- MATHEMATICS: Students will develop understanding of fractions and decimals as numbers and use reasoning with shapes and their attributes. As well as continue mastering multiplication and basic division.

- SCIENCE: Earth Science: Students will demonstrate understanding of key content and concepts. Students will also learn about the Scientific Method. Students will use this knowledge to participate in a Science Fair at the end of the trimester. SOCIAL STUDIES: History: Students will demonstrate understanding of key historical concepts. Students will compare two countries and create a project based on their research.
